Your Florida Moving Questions, Answered
Here are the questions households across Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, and the rest of the state ask Nicole and the crew most when planning a move. Don’t see yours? Call (888) 711-4778 and we’ll get you an answer within one business hour.
How much does a local move in Florida cost?
It depends on the size of your home, the distance, the access (a high-rise COI in Brickell, a gated-community window in Naples, tight beach-condo parking), and the time of year. Local crews run $115/hr for two movers, $155/hr for three, and $205/hr for four, though most homes book a flat rate instead, roughly $360 to $600 for a studio up to $2,850 to $4,500 for a four-bedroom. Nicole maps one flat written rate before move day, so nothing gets tacked on after the truck is loaded.
Do you need a deposit to hold my date?
A small booking deposit, usually $100 to $200, reserves your move date and comes straight off your final bill. The exact terms are spelled out in the written flat rate we send you before you commit to anything.
Are you actually licensed and insured?
Yes. Florida Moving Brand is registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a licensed intrastate mover, and we hold US DOT and MC authority for interstate moves. We carry $1M cargo coverage and full liability on every job, local or long-distance, anywhere in the state.
How early should I book, and does hurricane season change things?
The winter snowbird stretch and the end of every month are our busiest windows, so we suggest locking in at least 3 weeks out for a preferred date and a morning start. During hurricane season we watch the forecast and build flexibility into the schedule, since a tropical system can mean storm-driven rescheduling for everyone's safety. Quieter weeks usually need 7 to 10 days, and we can sometimes fit smaller last-minute moves.
What comes standard with a local move?
A standard job includes blanket-wrapping your furniture, loading, transport, and unloading where you want it, plus basic disassembly and reassembly of beds and tables. In the rainy months we add floor protection against tracked-in water at no extra charge. Packing materials, full packing, piano moving, and gun-safe rigging are add-ons, and Nicole prices them into the flat rate up front.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 48 hours before your scheduled move and there is no fee. Inside 48 hours, a fee may apply based on the crew time we have already set aside for you. If a named storm forces a reschedule, we work with you on a new date at no penalty. The specific terms are written into your flat-rate estimate.
Can you handle long-distance moves out of Florida?
Yes. We run interstate and long-distance moves with our own crew and US DOT authority. Common lanes include Florida to Atlanta, New York, Dallas, and the rest of the Northeast snowbird corridor. You get a binding written estimate before anything is loaded, and our team stays with the shipment the whole way.
Can you move me out of a coastal high-rise or a gated community?
Absolutely. We work Brickell towers, Channelside high-rises, beach condos, and guard-gate communities like The Villages and Lakewood Ranch all the time. When you ask for a quote, tell us the floor, the elevator situation, the parking, and any guard-gate rules, and we'll handle the Certificate of Insurance and the move-in window with the building before move day.
Do you offer storage between move-out and move-in?
Yes. When your dates don't line up, we keep your things in climate-controlled storage, which runs about $85 to $240 per month depending on unit size. That matters in Florida, where heat and humidity are hard on furniture left in an unconditioned unit. Rates and details go in your moving estimate.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Every move carries $1M cargo coverage, with $0.60/lb released value standard and 1–3% full-value protection available. If an item is damaged, call us right away. We document it, walk you through the 9-month claim window, and resolve it directly. Your belongings are our responsibility from the first box to the last.
Are you a moving company?
Yes, a licensed Florida mover. Florida Moving Brand is a licensed moving and storage company based in Orlando, founded by Nicole Alvarez in 2013, and we handle every move with our own trucks and our own W-2 crew across the whole state. From your first call to the last box unloaded you work with our team, never a subcontractor, and your information is never shared or sold.
How does the quote process work?
You reach out by phone or through the website, and we go over the details: home size, origin and destination, move date, and any special items like a piano or gun safe. Nicole builds one flat written rate that accounts for stairs, the high-rise COI, the gated-community access, the parking, and the season, confirms the crew, schedules the move, and follows up to make sure it went right.
